Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts: timing belt kit (belt, tensioner, idler pulleys), socket set, torque wrench, screwdrivers, and a jack with jack stands.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety during the procedure.
  • Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Remove the plastic engine cover by unscrewing any fasteners.
  • Take off the front timing cover by removing bolts with a socket wrench.
3. Align Timing Marks
  • Rotate the crankshaft using a socket on the crankshaft pulley until the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft align. Ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC).
4. Remove Old Timing Belt
  • Loosen the tensioner bolt with a socket and remove the timing belt carefully.
  • Detach the old belt from the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets.
5. Install New Timing Belt
  • Place the new timing belt over the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets, ensuring it is properly aligned with the timing marks.
  • Reinstall the tensioner and adjust the tension according to the manufacturer's specifications.
6. Reassemble Engine Components
  • Reattach the front timing cover and secure it with bolts.
  • Replace the plastic engine cover and fasten it in place.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
