Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Lift Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure it with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove Wheel
  • Tools Required: Socket set
  • Remove the lug nuts using a socket wrench.
  • Take off the front wheel to access the tie rod ends.
4. Detach Tie Rod End
  • Tools Required: Tie rod end puller or hammer, wrench
  • Use a wrench to remove the nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  • If the tie rod end is stuck, use a tie rod end puller or gently tap the side of the steering knuckle with a hammer to release it.
5. Remove Old Tie Rod End
  • Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod by turning it counterclockwise.
  • Take note of the number of turns for proper alignment during reinstallation.
6. Install New Tie Rod End
  • Screw in the new tie rod end onto the inner tie rod, matching the number of turns from the old tie rod end.
  • Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and secure it with the nut. Torque it to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 40-50 lb-ft).
7. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque (typically 80-100 lb-ft).
8. Alignment Check
  • After replacing both tie rod ends, take the vehicle to a professional alignment shop to ensure proper alignment.
