Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the replacement.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set (10mm and 12mm sockets)
  • Torque wrench
  • Spark plug socket (typically 5/8 inch)
  • Extension bar
  • Ratchet
  • Vacuum cleaner or compressed air
  • Anti-seize compound (optional)
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Use a socket wrench to remove any screws or bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift off the cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Identify the location of the spark plugs; usually found near the top of the engine under the ignition coils.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coils by pressing the tab and pulling them off gently.
  • Remove the bolts holding the ignition coils in place using the appropriate socket.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Using a spark plug socket and ratchet, carefully unscrew the old spark plugs. Turn counterclockwise to remove.
  • Inspect the spark plugs for wear and compare to new plugs.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (optional).
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Tighten using a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specification (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Reinstall the ignition coils over the new spark plugs and secure them with the previously removed bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
7. Reattach Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with the screws or bolts.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
