Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Fluid
  • Tools Required: Brake fluid, funnel, rags
  • Check the brake fluid reservoir; if low, refill with the manufacturer-recommended brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4).
  • Use a funnel to avoid spills and clean any spilled fluid immediately, as it can damage paint.
3. Inspect and Repair Leaks
  • Tools Required: Wrenches, brake line repair kit (if necessary)
  • Visually inspect all brake lines and connections for leaks.
  • Tighten any loose connections.
  • Replace any damaged or corroded brake lines or fittings as needed.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, container for old brake fluid
  • Begin at the furthest brake from the master cylinder (right rear), and follow to the nearest (left front).
  • Attach the bleeder hose to the bleeder valve and submerge the other end in a container with brake fluid.
  • Have an assistant pump the brake pedal and hold it down while you open the bleeder valve. Close the valve before the pedal is released.
  • Repeat until no air bubbles are visible in the fluid.
5. Inspect and Replace the Master Cylinder (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Wrenches, socket set, new master cylinder
  • Disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder and remove it from the brake booster.
  • Install the new master cylinder, ensuring all components are securely connected.
  • Refill the master cylinder with brake fluid and bleed the brake system again.
