Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set, throttle body cleaner, clean rags, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Air Intake Duct
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a socket or screwdriver to loosen the clamps on the air intake duct.
    2. Carefully detach the duct from the throttle body and the air filter box.
    3. Set the duct aside in a safe location.
3. Remove Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body.
    2. Remove any vacuum lines connected to the throttle body (take note of their positions).
    3. Use a socket set to remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold.
    4. Carefully lift the throttle body away from the intake manifold.
4. Clean Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean rag or directly into the throttle body.
    2. Use a soft brush or cloth to scrub the inside of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and surrounding areas.
    3. Wipe away any residue ensuring all carbon buildup is removed.
    4. Allow the throttle body to dry completely before reinstallation.
5. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the throttle body back onto the intake manifold.
    2. Reinstall and torque the throttle body bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 12-16 ft-lbs).
    3. Reconnect any vacuum lines and the electrical connector.
6. Reattach Air Intake Duct
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the air intake duct back in place.
    2. Tighten the clamps securely to prevent air leaks.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal once all components are reassembled.
