1. Preparation

2. Remove Ignition Coil
  • Locate the ignition coils on the engine (usually near the top of the engine near the spark plugs).
  • Remove any engine covers if they obstruct access to the ignition coils.
  • Unplug the electrical connector from the ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling it out.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolt securing the ignition coil to the engine.
  • Carefully pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well.
3. Inspect and Test Ignition Coil
  • Visually inspect the ignition coil for any signs of physical damage or corrosion.
  • Using a multimeter, set it to Ohms and measure the primary resistance by connecting the probes to the positive and negative terminals of the ignition coil. Compare the reading to the specifications provided in the service manual.
