Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan, funnel, clean rags.
2. Change Oil
  1. Lift the Vehicle

    • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle safely.
    • Secure it with jack stands.
  2. Drain Old Oil

    • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
    • Remove the drain plug using a socket wrench and allow old oil to completely drain into the pan.
    • Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s torque specification (typically around 30 ft-lbs).
  3. Replace Oil Filter

    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
    • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
    • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it according to specifications.
  4. Add New Oil

    • Remove the oil fill cap on top of the engine.
    • Using a funnel, pour in the recommended amount of new oil (typically 5.5 quarts for a 2.0L engine or 6.1 quarts for a 2.4L engine).
    • Replace the oil fill cap.
  5. Check Oil Level

    • Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes.
    • Turn off the engine and wait a minute.
    • Check the oil level with the dipstick and add more oil if necessary.
3. Clean Up
  • Dispose of the old oil and oil filter at a recycling center.
  • Clean any spills with rags.
