Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, torque wrench, brake cleaner, caliper tool, socket set.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the front (or rear) of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor without disconnecting the brake line.
  • Check the brake pads for wear; replace if they are below 3mm thickness.
  • If replacing, compress the caliper piston using a caliper tool to allow for new pads.
  • Install new brake pads and reattach the caliper. Torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
4. Check and Resurface or Replace Rotors
  • Measure rotor thickness with a micrometer; if below minimum thickness, replace.
  • If warped, consider resurfacing the rotors if within specification.
  • Clean the rotor surface with brake cleaner before reinstallation.
  • Reinstall the rotor and torque the lug nuts to manufacturer specifications.
5. Inspect and Replace Wheel Bearings (if necessary)
  • Check for play in the wheel bearings by wiggling the rotor.
  • If worn, remove the hub assembly and replace the wheel bearings.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications for installation and torque.
6. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reattach the wheel and lug nuts, torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the jack.
