Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, jack stands, wheel chocks, and a power steering fluid.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and turn off the engine.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical hazards.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
  • Check the fluid level and condition; if dirty or low, proceed to replace it.
  • Using a turkey baster, remove old fluid from the reservoir and replace it with new power steering fluid.
  • Reinstall the cap after filling.
3. Inspect Steering Components
  • Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels to access steering components.
  • Visually inspect tie rods and rack and pinion for wear or damage.
  • Replace any worn or damaged components (tie rods, rack and pinion) with OEM parts.
4. Inspect CV Joints
  • Check the CV joint boots for cracks or tears.
  • If damaged, remove the wheel and axle nut.
  • Slide the axle shaft out of the hub and replace the CV joint or axle assembly as needed.
5. Inspect Wheel Bearings
  • Spin the wheel and listen for grinding noises; check for play by rocking the wheel.
  • If bearings are worn, remove the brake caliper and rotor.
  • Replace the wheel bearings using a bearing press, ensuring proper torque specifications are followed.
