Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, ratchet, extension, dielectric grease, clean cloth.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Use a socket to remove the bolts securing the engine cover (if applicable).
  • Carefully lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling it off.
  • Use a socket to remove the bolts securing the ignition coils to the engine.
  • Gently pull out the ignition coils from their respective cylinders.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew and remove the old spark plugs from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the condition of each old spark plug for wear and carbon buildup.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary (refer to manufacturer specifications).
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of each new spark plug.
  • Hand-tighten the new spark plugs into the cylinder head, then use a torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 13-15 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of each ignition coil boot to improve the seal and prevent moisture entry.
  • Reinstall the ignition coils, securing them with bolts and reconnecting the electrical connectors.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with bolts.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal to the battery.
