Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel filler cap and using a rag to cover the fuel pressure test port.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Remove the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel (if applicable).
  • Unscrew and remove the access panel to expose the fuel pump assembly.
3. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Carefully loosen the fuel lines connected to the pump using a line wrench to avoid damage.
  • Remove the retaining ring or screws that hold the fuel pump assembly in place.
  • Lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank gently to avoid damaging the fuel gauge float.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Replace the old fuel pump with the new unit, ensuring the new pump is compatible with the 9th generation Honda Accord.
  • Secure the pump assembly back into the tank and tighten the retaining ring or screws to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 20-25 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the access panel and rear seat cushion.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (without starting) a few times to prime the fuel system.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks around the pump area.
