Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts for the repair.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the ignition system.
2. Replace Ignition Coils
  1. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil.
  3. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a socket set.
  4. Pull out the ignition coils from the spark plug wells.
  5. Install new ignition coils by reversing the removal steps, ensuring they seat properly.
  6. Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
3. Replace Spark Plugs
  1. Remove the ignition coils as outlined in the previous step.
  2. Use a spark plug socket to remove the old spark plugs.
  3. Inspect the old spark plugs for wear and gap; replace with new spark plugs if needed.
  4. Set the gap on new spark plugs to the manufacturer's specification.
  5. Install new spark plugs and torque them to the manufacturer's specified torque setting (usually around 13-16 ft-lbs).
  6. Reinstall the ignition coils as previously described.
4. Check and Replace Ignition Switch (if necessary)
  1. Remove the steering column covers to access the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the ignition switch.
  3. Remove the mounting screws securing the ignition switch.
  4. Install the new ignition switch and reconnect the wiring harness.
  5. Reassemble the steering column covers.
