Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Clean Battery Terminals
  • Use a battery terminal cleaner or a wire brush to remove corrosion from the battery terminals.
  • Clean the battery posts and the inside of the terminal clamps.
  • Reconnect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal.
3. Replace Battery if Necessary
  • If the battery fails the health test, remove it:
    • Tools Required: Socket set, battery terminal puller.
    • Remove the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal.
    • Unbolt the battery hold-down bracket and carefully lift the battery out.
  • Install a new battery:
    • Place the new battery in the tray.
    • Secure it with the hold-down bracket.
    • Connect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
4. Repair Parasitic Draw
  • If excessive draw is found during testing:
    • Identify the circuit using a multimeter and fuse pull method.
    • Disconnect the component or circuit causing the draw (e.g., aftermarket accessories, faulty modules).
    • Repair or replace the faulty component as needed.
5. Test Alternator
  • If the alternator is not charging:
    • Disconnect the battery.
    • Remove the alternator from the engine bay.
    • Test it with a multimeter or take it to an auto parts store for testing.
  • Replace the alternator if it is not functioning properly.
