Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and materials.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

Tools Required:

  • Drain pan
  • Funnel
  • Hose clamps (if needed)
  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves
2. Drain Old Coolant
  • Locate the radiator drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
  • Place the drain pan beneath the radiator.
  • Open the drain plug and allow the old coolant to fully drain into the pan.
  • Close the drain plug once all coolant has drained.
3. Flush the System
  • Remove the radiator cap.
  • Using a garden hose, insert it into the radiator neck and turn on the water.
  • Flush water through the system until the water runs clear from the drain plug.
  • Allow the system to drain completely again.
4. Fill with New Coolant
  • Mix the new coolant according to the manufacturer's specifications (typically a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water).
  • Using a funnel, pour the new coolant into the radiator until it reaches the full mark.
  • Also, fill the reservoir to the appropriate level.
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes with the radiator cap off to allow air to escape.
5. Final Checks
  • Once the engine is at operating temperature, turn it off and let it cool.
  • Check the coolant level in the reservoir and top off if necessary.
  • Inspect for any leaks around the radiator and hoses.
