Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Remove Fuel Sender Unit
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, and a fuel line disconnect tool.
  • Remove the rear seat (if applicable) or access panel to reach the fuel tank.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the sender unit, using a fuel line disconnect tool if necessary.
  • Unbolt the sender unit from the tank and carefully lift it out, taking care not to damage the float.
3. Inspect and Clean Sender Unit
  • Check the float for any damage or sticking that may prevent accurate readings.
  • Use electrical contact cleaner to clean the electrical contacts on the sender unit.
  • If the float is damaged, replace the entire sender unit.
4. Reinstall Sender Unit
  • Carefully position the sender unit back into the tank, ensuring the float moves freely.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and secure the sender unit with bolts.
  • Reinstall the access panel or rear seat.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (without starting the engine) to test the gauge.
  • Start the engine and monitor the fuel gauge for accurate readings.
