Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check and Replace Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Transmission funnel, fluid catch pan, socket set, torque wrench
  • Remove the transmission fluid pan using a socket set.
  • Allow old fluid to drain completely into the catch pan.
  • Inspect the pan for debris or metal shavings. Clean thoroughly.
  • Replace the transmission filter if applicable.
  • Reinstall the pan and tighten bolts to manufacturer torque specifications.
  • Refill the transmission with the correct type and amount of fluid using a funnel.
3. Inspect and Replace Transmission Solenoids
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench
  • Access the transmission solenoids by removing the transmission pan as described above.
  • Disconnect electrical connectors from the solenoids.
  • Remove the solenoids from their mounting locations.
  • Install new solenoids and reconnect the electrical connectors.
  • Reinstall the transmission pan.
4. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to warm up.
  • Shift through all gears and monitor for improvement in shifting behavior.
