Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Identify and Replace the Faulty Component

A. Oil Filter Inspection

  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, new oil filter, oil catch pan
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place an oil catch pan under the oil filter.
    2. Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
    3. Inspect the rubber O-ring on the old filter for damage.
    4. Apply a thin layer of new oil on the O-ring of the new filter.
    5. Install the new oil filter hand-tight.

B. Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper, RTV sealant, new oil pan gasket
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Drain the engine oil completely into the oil catch pan.
    2. Remove the oil pan by unscrewing the bolts with the socket set.
    3. Carefully scrape off the old gasket material from the oil pan and engine block.
    4. Apply RTV sealant if specified by the manufacturer and place the new gasket onto the oil pan.
    5. Reinstall the oil pan and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

C. Front Crankshaft Seal Replacement

  • Tools Required: Socket set, puller tool, new crankshaft seal
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the harmonic balancer using the puller tool.
    2. Take out the old crankshaft seal using a seal puller.
    3. Clean the sealing surface on the crankshaft.
    4. Press in the new crankshaft seal carefully.
    5. Reinstall the harmonic balancer and torque it to specification.
