Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather required tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle at the designated lift points.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Old Shocks
  • Front Shocks:

    1. Remove the wheel for access.
    2. Locate the upper and lower shock bolts.
    3. Use a socket wrench to remove the upper bolt first, followed by the lower bolt.
    4. Carefully take out the shock absorber.
  • Rear Shocks:

    1. Similarly, remove the rear wheel.
    2. Locate and remove the upper and lower shock bolts using a socket wrench.
    3. Remove the shock absorber from its mount.
4. Install New Shocks
  • Front Shocks:

    1. Position the new shock absorber in place.
    2. Insert the lower bolt and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification (typically around 40-60 ft-lbs).
    3. Secure the upper bolt and tighten to the same torque specifications.
  • Rear Shocks:

    1. Place the new shock absorber in the mounts.
    2. Insert and tighten the lower bolt first, then the upper bolt, also to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
5. Reassemble Vehicle
  • Reattach the wheels and lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specification (generally 140-160 ft-lbs).
6. Final Check
  • Inspect all bolts for tightness and ensure there are no tools left under the vehicle.
  • Lower the vehicle completely to the ground.
