Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts: brake cleaner, lubricant, socket set, brake pads, torque wrench, impact gun (if necessary).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel using a socket.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect Brakes
  • Remove the caliper by loosening the caliper bolts with a socket.
  • Carefully lift the caliper away from the rotor and support it with a bungee cord or similar device to avoid strain on the brake line.
  • Inspect brake pads for wear; if they are less than 3mm thick, replacement is necessary.
  • Check the rotor for any grooves or damage. If damaged, it may need resurfacing or replacement.
4. Replace Brake Pads (if necessary)
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they are seated correctly.
  • Apply a thin layer of brake lubricant to the back of each pad to reduce noise.
5. Reassemble Brakes
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and secure it with caliper bolts. Torque to manufacturer specifications (generally around 25-30 ft-lbs, but verify with service manual).
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower Vehicle and Finalize
  • Lower the vehicle from jack stands.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s torque specification in a crisscross pattern.
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the brake pads properly against the rotors.
