Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, dielectric grease, and anti-seize compound.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the engine cover retention bolts.
  • Use the socket set to remove the bolts.
  • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Identify the location of the spark plugs; they will be on the engine cylinder head.
  • For each spark plug, disconnect the ignition coil wiring harness by pressing down on the tab and pulling it off.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Use the socket set to remove the bolts securing the ignition coils.
  • Carefully pull the ignition coils straight out to avoid damaging the connectors.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and extension bar to loosen and remove the old spark plugs by rotating counterclockwise.
  • Carefully inspect the old spark plugs for signs of wear or damage.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs.
  • Hand-tighten the new spark plugs into the cylinder head, then use the torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 13-15 lb-ft, but consult the service manual for exact specifications).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots.
  • Reinstall each ignition coil, securing them with the original bolts and using the socket set.
  • Reconnect the ignition coil wiring harness.
8. Replace Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Position the engine cover back onto the engine.
  • Reinstall the cover retention bolts and tighten them appropriately.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
