Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, transmission jack, torque wrench, O-ring pick, rags
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical issues.
2. Remove Transmission Components
  • Step 1: Drain the transmission fluid.

    • Place a drain pan underneath the transmission pan.
    • Remove the transmission pan bolts with a socket and ratchet, then carefully lower the pan and drain fluid.
  • Step 2: Remove the transmission pan.

    • Clean the surface where the transmission pan contacts the transmission case.
    • Set the pan aside for later cleaning and resealing.
  • Step 3: Remove the front seal.

    • Use an O-ring pick to carefully pry out the old front seal from the transmission case.
    • Inspect the sealing surface for any scratches or damage.
3. Install New Front Seal
  • Step 1: Apply a thin layer of transmission fluid to the new front seal.
  • Step 2: Carefully press the new front seal into the transmission case until it is seated evenly.
    • Use a seal installation tool or a suitable-sized socket to gently tap it in place without damaging it.
4. Reassemble Transmission
  • Step 1: Reinstall the transmission pan with a new gasket.

    • Torque the pan bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 12-15 ft-lbs).
  • Step 2: Refill the transmission with the appropriate type of fluid as specified in the owner's manual.

  • Step 3: Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
