Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, fuel pressure gauge, screwdrivers, socket set, multimeter, cleaning supplies, and safety goggles.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the engine off and cooled down.
2. Clean Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Throttle body cleaner, cloths
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
    2. Remove the air intake duct connected to the throttle body.
    3. Use throttle body cleaner and a cloth to gently clean the inside of the throttle body, removing any carbon deposits.
    4. Reconnect the air intake duct and the negative battery terminal.
3. Test and Replace Fuel Filter
  • Tools Required: Socket set, fuel line removal tool (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
    2. Locate the fuel filter and disconnect the fuel lines using the fuel line removal tool.
    3. Remove the fuel filter and replace it with a new one.
    4. Reconnect the fuel lines and the fuel pump relay before starting the engine.
4. Replace Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the IAC valve, typically mounted on the throttle body or intake manifold.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting screws.
    3. Install the new IAC valve and torque the screws to manufacturer specifications.
    4. Reconnect the electrical connector.
