Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Tools required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and a wire brush.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the brake caliper by unscrewing the caliper mounting bolts.
  • Support the caliper with a bungee cord to avoid stress on the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Inspect the brake pad backing for wear indicators. If the pad thickness is less than 3mm, replace it.
  • Clean the caliper bracket with brake cleaner and a wire brush to remove any dust or debris.
4. Install New Brake Pads
  • Apply a thin layer of brake grease to the back of the new brake pads to prevent squeaking.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  • Reattach the brake caliper over the new pads and tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground and fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even pressure.
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the brake pads properly.
