Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shock.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and running the engine until it stalls.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver, fuel line disconnect tool
  • Remove the rear seat or access panel to locate the fuel pump access cover.
  • Unscrew and remove the access cover to expose the fuel pump assembly.
3. Disconnect Fuel Lines and Electrical Connections
  • Use the fuel line disconnect tool to carefully detach the fuel lines from the pump assembly.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump by pressing the release tab and pulling it away from the pump.
4. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Unscrew the retaining ring or bolts securing the fuel pump assembly to the tank.
  • Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank, ensuring no fuel spills.
5. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Parts Required: New fuel pump, new fuel filter (if applicable), O-rings or gaskets
  • Install the new fuel pump into the assembly, ensuring all seals are correctly seated.
  • Position the assembly back into the fuel tank and secure it with the retaining ring or bolts.
6. Reconnect Fuel Lines and Electrical Connections
  • Reattach the fuel lines securely to the new pump.
  • Connect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks into place.
7. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the access cover and reinstall the rear seat if removed.
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
  • Start the engine and check for proper operation.
