Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: Flathead screwdriver, small Phillips screwdriver, and a new battery (typically CR2032 or CR2025).
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe location for testing and repair.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Open the Key Fob:

    • Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob casing.
    • Ensure you don’t damage the clips holding the fob together.
  2. Remove Old Battery:

    • Identify the battery location within the fob.
    • Carefully remove the old battery using the screwdriver or your fingers, noting the orientation of the positive (+) side.
  3. Install New Battery:

    • Place the new battery in the same orientation as the old one, ensuring it fits snugly.
  4. Reassemble the Key Fob:

    • Snap the fob halves back together until the clips secure firmly.
    • Test the fob by pressing the unlock button.
3. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Enter Programming Mode:

    • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
    • Turn the key back to "Off" and remove it.
  2. Program the Key Fob:

    • Close and open the driver's door.
    • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (again, do not start).
    • Press any button on the key fob to program it. You should hear a chime indicating successful programming.
  3. Exit Programming Mode:

    • Turn the key to "Off" and remove it from the ignition.
    • Test the fob to ensure it is functioning correctly.
