Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat, level surface.
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required: Alignment tool, floor jack, jack stands, torque wrench, wheel chocks.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a floor jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to prevent it from falling.
  • Ensure wheel chocks are placed on the rear wheels for safety.
3. Adjust Toe Alignment
  • Remove the front wheels by loosening the lug nuts with a socket set.
  • Locate the tie rod ends, which connect the steering linkage to the wheels.
  • Use a wrench to loosen the lock nuts on the tie rods.
  • Turn the tie rods to adjust the toe angle:
    • For toe-in, turn the tie rod clockwise; for toe-out, turn it counter-clockwise.
  • Re-tighten the lock nuts once the desired toe angle is achieved.
4. Adjust Camber and Caster (if applicable)
  • If your Ford Explorer has adjustable camber and caster, locate the adjustment bolts on the upper control arm.
  • Loosen the bolts slightly with a socket set.
  • Adjust the camber by moving the top of the wheel inwards or outwards as necessary.
  • Adjust the caster by moving the control arm forward or backward.
  • Re-tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
5. Reinstall Wheels and Lower Vehicle
  • Put the wheels back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground using the floor jack.
  • Torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications using a torque wrench.
