Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle's battery to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting work.
2. Refill Refrigerant
  • Tools Required: Manifold gauge set, refrigerant canister.
  • Locate the low-pressure service port on the AC system.
  • Connect the low-pressure side of the manifold gauge set to the service port.
  • Open the valve on the refrigerant canister and allow the refrigerant to flow until the proper pressure is reached based on the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Disconnect the manifold gauge set and replace the service port cap.
3. Inspect and Replace Components
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, AC compressor clutch tool.
  • If the compressor is not engaging, check the AC relay and fuse. Replace if faulty.
  • If the compressor is faulty, remove the serpentine belt and disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Unbolt the AC compressor from its mount and remove it from the vehicle.
  • Install the new compressor, ensuring all bolts are torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and reinstall the serpentine belt.
4. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: Screwdriver (if necessary for access).
  • Locate the cabin air filter compartment, usually behind the glove box.
  • Remove the old filter and inspect for debris. Replace with a new filter.
  • Reassemble the glove box if it was removed.
