Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Socket set
    • Wrench set
    • Torque wrench
    • Strut spring compressor
    • Screwdrivers
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which struts are being replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using the socket set, remove the wheel lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.
4. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • For Front Struts:

    1. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the strut using a socket and wrench.
    2. Remove the lower strut mounting bolts securing the strut to the knuckle.
    3. Carefully remove the upper strut mounting nuts from the top of the strut tower in the engine bay.
    4. Gently pull the strut assembly out of the vehicle.
  • For Rear Struts:

    1. Remove the lower strut bolts using the socket set.
    2. Remove the upper strut mounting nuts from inside the cargo area.
    3. Carefully extract the strut from its mounting location.
5. Compress and Replace the Strut
  • Using a strut spring compressor, securely compress the coil spring on the old strut.
  • Remove the top strut nut and carefully take off the spring and any upper mounts.
  • Install the spring and mounts onto the new strut, following the reverse procedure.
  • Ensure the spring is seated properly in the strut seat.
6. Install New Strut
  • For Front Struts:

    1. Position the new strut into the strut tower and secure it with the upper mounting nuts.
    2. Attach the lower strut to the knuckle with the mounting bolts and tighten to factory specifications.
  • For Rear Struts:

    1. Position the new strut into the mounting location and secure it with the upper nuts.
    2. Attach the lower strut bolts and tighten them.
7. Reassemble
  • Reattach the stabilizer bar link to the strut.
  • Install the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
