Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:

    • Socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Funnel
    • Oil drain pan
    • Rags or paper towels
    • Jack and jack stands (or ramps)
  • Parts Required:

    • Engine oil (5W-20 or as specified in the owner’s manual)
    • Oil filter (Ford OEM recommended)
  • Safety Warnings:

    • Allow the engine to cool before starting the oil change.
    • Use jack stands to secure the vehicle when elevated.
2. Elevate the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before proceeding.
3. Drain Old Oil
  • Place the oil drain pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using the socket set and allow the old oil to drain completely into the pan (approximately 10-15 minutes).
  • Reinstall the oil drain plug and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 20 lb-ft).
4. Replace Oil Filter
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Ensure the old filter's rubber O-ring comes off with it.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it according to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually 3/4 turn after the O-ring contacts the engine).
5. Add New Oil
  • Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.
  • Using a funnel, pour in the new engine oil (4.5 to 5 quarts, as specified in the owner's manual).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
6. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a minute, then turn it off.
  • Wait a few minutes, then pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and check the oil level.
  • Add more oil if necessary to reach the proper level.
7. Dispose of Old Oil
  • Transfer the old oil from the drain pan into a sealed container.
  • Dispose of the old oil and oil filter at a recycling center or an authorized disposal facility.
