Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, brake fluid, brake bleeder kit, turkey baster, and safety glasses.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the engine to cool if previously used.
2. Inspect and Top Off Brake Fluid
  • Remove the master cylinder cap.
  • Use a turkey baster to remove old brake fluid and dispose of it properly.
  • Refill the master cylinder with the appropriate brake fluid (DOT 4 for BMW).
  • Replace the cap securely.
3. Inspect for Leaks
  • Visually inspect all brake lines, calipers, and the master cylinder for signs of leaks.
  • If leaks are found, replace the damaged components as necessary.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Attach the brake bleeder kit to the first brake caliper.
  • Have an assistant pump the brake pedal several times and hold it down.
  • Open the bleeder valve to release air and fluid, then close the valve before the pedal is released.
  • Repeat for all four brakes, ensuring the master cylinder is kept full during the process.
5. Check Brake Components
  • Remove the wheels to inspect brake pads and rotors.
  • Replace any worn or damaged brake pads or rotors as needed.
  • Reassemble the wheels and lower the vehicle.
