Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, torque wrench, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool before starting work.
2. Disconnect Battery
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical short circuits while working on the oxygen sensor.
3. Remove the Oxygen Sensor
  • Locate the oxygen sensor (typically found in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe).
  • Use a socket wrench to unscrew the oxygen sensor from its mounting point.
  • Carefully disconnect the wiring harness from the oxygen sensor.
4. Install New Oxygen Sensor
  • Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new oxygen sensor to prevent seizure during future removal.
  • Install the new oxygen sensor by threading it into the exhaust manifold or pipe. Ensure it is tightened to the manufacturer's specified torque (usually around 30-40 Nm).
  • Reconnect the wiring harness to the new oxygen sensor.
5. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal securely.
6. Clear Error Codes
  • Use an OBD-II scanner to clear the P0131 code from the vehicle’s computer system.
