Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Torx screwdriver set
    • Cleaning rags
    • Throttle body cleaner (non-abrasive)
    • Safety goggles and gloves
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Locate the engine cover and remove any screws or fasteners using the appropriate screwdriver.
  • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Disconnect Air Intake Duct
  • Loosen the clamps on the air intake duct connected to the throttle body using a flathead screwdriver.
  • Carefully detach the duct from the throttle body and move it aside.
4. Remove Throttle Body
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the throttle body by pressing the tab and pulling them off.
  • Use the Torx screwdriver to remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold (typically 4 bolts).
  • Gently pull the throttle body away from the manifold, ensuring no gaskets are damaged.
5. Clean Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean rag and wipe the inner surfaces of the throttle body, including the throttle plate and bore.
  • Ensure to clean all carbon deposits and grime without using abrasive materials.
  • Make sure the throttle plate can move freely after cleaning.
6. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Place a new gasket (if applicable) onto the intake manifold.
  • Align the throttle body and secure it with the bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque (check service manual for exact torque values).
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Reattach Air Intake Duct
  • Position the air intake duct back onto the throttle body and secure it with the clamps.
  • Ensure the duct is seated properly without any leaks.
8. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with the screws or fasteners removed earlier.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery and ensure it is tight.
