Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Gather necessary tools and safety equipment.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which brake pads you are inspecting.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a socket set, loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Carefully take off the wheel and set it aside.
4. Inspect the Brake Pads
  • Visually check the brake pads through the caliper for thickness.
    • Minimum thickness is generally around 3mm; replace if below this.
  • If necessary, remove the caliper:
    • Unscrew the caliper mounting bolts using a socket set.
    • Carefully lift the caliper off the rotor and support it with a bungee cord or similar to avoid straining the brake line.
  • Inspect the brake pad surface for uneven wear or damage.
5. Reassemble
  • If brake pads are in good condition, reattach the caliper and wheel:
    • Secure the caliper with bolts, tightening to manufacturer specifications (usually around 25-30 Nm).
    • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and fully tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure even pressure.
