Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during the repair.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before proceeding with the removal of the shocks.
3. Remove the Old Shock Absorbers
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, spring compressor (if necessary)
  • Loosen and remove the lower mounting bolts of the shock absorber using a socket.
  • Remove the upper mounting bolts from inside the vehicle or under the wheel arch.
  • Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mounting bracket.
4. Install New Shock Absorbers
  • Tools Required: Same as above
  • Position the new shock absorber in place and align it with the mounting brackets.
  • Insert and hand-tighten the upper mounting bolts first, then the lower bolts.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically between 40-60 ft-lbs, but check the service manual).
5. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall any components that were removed for access.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
  • Reconnect the battery.
