Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Replace Spark Plug and Ignition Coil
  1. Remove Engine Cover: Use a socket set to remove bolts holding the engine cover in place and gently lift it off.
  2. Access Cylinder 5: Locate the ignition coil for cylinder 5 (typically found on the top of the engine).
  3. Remove Ignition Coil: Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil, then remove the bolt securing the coil and pull it out.
  4. Replace Spark Plug: Use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plug from cylinder 5. Inspect the old spark plug for wear and install a new spark plug with the correct gap (as per manufacturer specifications).
  5. Install New Ignition Coil: Place the new ignition coil into position over the spark plug and secure it with the bolt. Reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Clean or Replace Fuel Injector
  1. Remove Fuel Injector: Disconnect the fuel line (be cautious of fuel spillage) and remove any retaining clips or bolts securing the fuel rail. Carefully pull the fuel rail with the injector out.
  2. Inspect and Clean: Check the fuel injector for clogs. If it appears dirty, use an appropriate cleaner or replace it with a new injector.
  3. Reinstall Fuel Injector: Reassemble the fuel rail with the injector and secure it back in place.
4. Reassembly and Testing
  1. Reinstall Engine Cover: Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the bolts removed earlier.
  2. Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Start the Engine: Turn the key to the "on" position to allow the fuel system to prime, then start the engine and observe for any unusual sounds or check engine lights.
