Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Locate Power Steering Reservoir
  • Open the hood and locate the power steering fluid reservoir, usually found near the engine on the passenger side.
  • Remove the cap to access the reservoir.
3. Drain Old Fluid
  • Place a drain pan underneath the power steering pump to catch any fluid.
  • Disconnect the return hose from the reservoir using a socket wrench. Allow the fluid to drain completely into the pan.
  • Reconnect the return hose after draining.
4. Flush the System (Optional)
  • If desired, you can flush the system by adding fresh power steering fluid into the reservoir and turning the steering wheel from lock to lock for several seconds, then draining again. Repeat this process until the fluid running out is clear.
5. Add New Fluid
  • Using a funnel, pour the recommended type of power steering fluid into the reservoir until it reaches the proper level (check the markings on the reservoir).
  • Replace the reservoir cap securely.
6. Bleed the System
  • Start the engine and let it idle.
  • Turn the steering wheel fully left and right several times to remove any air pockets in the system.
  • Check the fluid level again and add more fluid if necessary.
7. Final Inspection
  • Inspect for any leaks around the hoses and connections.
  • Dispose of the old fluid properly at a recycling center.
