Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical shock or shorts.
2. Replace Ignition Coil
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, dielectric grease
  • Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  • Locate the ignition coil for cylinder 4 (consult vehicle manual for location).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  • Remove the bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using a socket wrench.
  • Pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well.
  • Apply dielectric grease to the new ignition coil connector and install it into the spark plug well.
  • Secure the ignition coil with the bolt(s) and reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Replace Spark Plug
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket, torque wrench
  • Use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plug from cylinder 4.
  • Inspect the old spark plug for signs of wear or fouling.
  • Gap the new spark plug to specifications as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Install the new spark plug, torquing it to the manufacturer’s specifications.
4. Inspect and Clean Fuel Injector
  • Tools Required: Fuel injector cleaning kit, safety goggles
  • Disconnect the fuel injector connector for cylinder 4.
  • Remove the fuel injector from the fuel rail (may require removal of the fuel rail).
  • Use a fuel injector cleaning kit to clean the injector thoroughly.
  • Reinstall the fuel injector and reconnect the connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall any components removed during the process.
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes.
