Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, torque wrench, compression tester, multimeter, fuel injector tester, basic hand tools.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting any work.
2. Replace Ignition Coil
  1. Locate the ignition coil for cylinder 2 (usually under the engine cover).
  2. Remove the engine cover if necessary (typically requires a socket set).
  3. Unplug the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  4. Remove the bolt securing the ignition coil and gently pull it out.
  5. Install the new ignition coil, securing it with the bolt and reconnecting the electrical connector.
3. Replace Spark Plug
  1. Using a spark plug socket, remove the spark plug from cylinder 2.
  2. Inspect the old spark plug for wear or damage (replace if necessary).
  3. Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 18-22 lb-ft).
  4. Reattach the ignition coil to the new spark plug.
4. Test Fuel Injector
  1. Connect a fuel injector tester to the injector for cylinder 2.
  2. Activate the injector and check for proper operation (listen for clicking sound).
  3. If the injector is faulty, remove it carefully and replace it with a new one, ensuring all seals are intact.
5. Reconnect Battery and Clear Codes
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0302 code from the system.
