Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, Torque wrench, Spark plug socket, Gapping tool, OBD-II scanner.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems.
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Remove the engine cover by unscrewing any fasteners.
  • Carefully lift and set the cover aside to access the spark plugs.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Disconnect the ignition coil connectors from each spark plug.
  • Using a spark plug socket, carefully unscrew and remove each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect each removed spark plug for signs of wear or damage.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a gapping tool; adjust if necessary based on manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of each spark plug (if required).
  • Carefully install the new spark plugs by hand to avoid cross-threading, then torque to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually 20-25 Nm for BMW).
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reconnect the ignition coil connectors to each spark plug.
  • Replace the engine cover and secure it with the fasteners removed earlier.
  • Reconnect the battery.
