Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool before working on the exhaust system.
2. Remove the Faulty Oxygen Sensor
  • Tools Required: Oxygen sensor socket, ratchet, and extension.
  • Locate the oxygen sensor in the exhaust system (pre-cat or post-cat based on diagnosis).
  • Use the oxygen sensor socket to unscrew the sensor counterclockwise.
  • Carefully detach the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling it off.
3. Install the New Oxygen Sensor
  • Ensure the threads of the new sensor are clean and apply anti-seize compound to the threads if recommended.
  • Screw the new oxygen sensor into the exhaust pipe by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Tighten it securely with the oxygen sensor socket (typically to 30-40 Nm or as specified in the service manual).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
4. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Monitor the engine for any abnormal sounds or behaviors.
