Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Clean cloth, funnel (if adding fluid), brake fluid (DOT 4 recommended for BMW).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Put on safety gloves and goggles to protect from brake fluid.
2. Check Fluid Level
  1. Open the hood and locate the brake fluid reservoir.
  2. Wipe the area around the reservoir cap with a clean cloth to avoid contamination.
  3. Remove the cap of the reservoir carefully.
  4. Visually inspect the fluid level against the minimum and maximum markings on the side of the reservoir.
3. Add Brake Fluid (if necessary)
  1. If the fluid level is below the minimum mark, use a funnel to add brake fluid.
  2. Pour the recommended brake fluid (DOT 4) slowly into the reservoir until it reaches the maximum level.
  3. Do not overfill the reservoir, as brake fluid expands with heat.
4. Reassemble
  1. Replace the reservoir cap securely.
  2. Wipe any spilled fluid from the reservoir area.
  3. Close the hood of the vehicle.
