Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: oil filter wrench, socket set, oil drain pan, funnel, rags, and new oil and oil filter.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before working underneath.
3. Drain Old Oil
  • Position the oil drain pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using the appropriate socket and allow the oil to drain completely.
  • Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 25 Nm).
4. Replace Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter, typically accessible from the top or bottom of the engine.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter, allowing residual oil to drain into the pan.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten according to manufacturer's specifications.
5. Add New Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap.
  • Using a funnel, pour in the new oil (refer to owner's manual for type and capacity, usually around 6-7 quarts for the X3 G01).
  • Replace the oil filler cap.
6. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, checking for leaks around the oil filter and drain plug.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes, then check the oil level with the dipstick.
  • Add oil as necessary to reach the appropriate level.
7. Clean Up
  • Dispose of old oil and filter properly at a recycling center.
  • Check for any tools left in the engine bay and ensure everything is secure.
