Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secured with wheel chocks.
2. Inspect and Replace Fuel Filter
  • Locate the fuel filter and remove any retaining clips.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines using a fuel line disconnect tool, being cautious of fuel spray.
  • Replace the old filter with a new one, ensuring proper orientation.
  • Reconnect fuel lines and secure with clips.
3. Clean or Replace Throttle Body
  • Remove the air intake hose connecting to the throttle body.
  • Using throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth, clean the throttle plate and the inside of the throttle body.
  • If the throttle body is damaged or malfunctioning, replace it with a new unit.
  • Reattach the air intake hose securely.
4. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs and Ignition Coils
  • Remove the ignition coil cover.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coils and remove the coils.
  • Remove old spark plugs using a spark plug socket.
  • Install new spark plugs, ensuring the correct gap is set (typically 0.028 inches for BMW).
  • Reinstall ignition coils and connectors.
5. Test Drive and Reset Engine Light
  • Reconnect the battery and start the engine.
  • Clear any fault codes using the OBD-II scanner.
  • Conduct a test drive to ensure normal acceleration and performance.
  • Monitor for any reoccurrence of symptoms or warning lights.
