Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves.
2. Check and Refill Brake Fluid
  • Open the hood and locate the brake master cylinder.
  • Remove the cap and inspect the brake fluid level.
  • If low, refill with the appropriate brake fluid (DOT 4 for BMW).
  • Secure the cap back after filling.
3. Inspect for Leaks
  • Visually inspect brake lines, calipers, and master cylinder for any signs of fluid leaks.
  • If leaks are found, replace the damaged components (lines, calipers, or master cylinder) as required.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Attach a clear hose to the bleeder valve on the farthest brake caliper.
  • Open the bleeder valve and have an assistant press the brake pedal several times, holding it down.
  • Close the valve while the pedal is held down to prevent air from entering.
  • Repeat this process for each brake caliper, moving from the farthest to the closest.
  • Check the brake fluid level frequently and top off as needed.
5. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads/Rotor (if necessary)
  • Remove the wheel and inspect brake pads and rotor condition.
  • Replace if pads are worn below 3mm or if rotors are damaged.
  • Reassemble and torque wheel lug nuts to specifications.
