Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, oil pressure gauge, socket set, torque wrench, oil filter wrench, oil catch pan.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before proceeding.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap and visually check the oil level using the dipstick.
  • If the oil level is low, add the appropriate type and grade of oil as specified in the owner’s manual.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes, then recheck the oil level and top off if necessary.
3. Replace Oil Filter and Engine Oil
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to completely drain out.
  • Replace the oil filter using the oil filter wrench. Ensure the old O-ring is removed.
  • Install the new oil filter as per the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Reinstall the drain plug and torque to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Add new engine oil through the oil filler cap as recommended in the owner’s manual.
4. Inspect and Replace Oil Pressure Sending Unit (if necessary)
  • Locate the oil pressure sending unit (typically near the oil filter or engine block).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sending unit with a socket.
  • Install the new oil pressure sending unit and reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Verify Oil Pressure
  • Connect an oil pressure gauge to the oil pressure sending unit port.
  • Start the engine and observe the oil pressure reading on the gauge. It should be within the specifications outlined in the service manual.
  • If oil pressure is still low, further investigation may be required into the oil pump or internal engine issues.
