Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the battery.
  • Safety glasses and gloves should be worn throughout the process.
2. Identify and Replace Leaking Components
  • Coolant Reservoir
    • Remove any fasteners securing the coolant reservoir.
    • Disconnect the hoses and electrical connectors.
    • Install a new reservoir and reconnect hoses.
  • Hoses
    • Cut out the damaged section of the hose or replace the entire hose.
    • Use a hose clamp to secure the new hose in place.
  • Radiator
    • Remove the radiator cap and drain the coolant into a container.
    • Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
    • Remove any mounting brackets and carefully extract the radiator.
    • Install the new radiator and reconnect hoses.
  • Water Pump
    • Drain coolant from the system.
    • Remove the serpentine belt and any components obstructing access to the pump.
    • Unbolt the water pump and remove it.
    • Clean the mounting surface, install a new pump with a gasket, and reassemble.
3. Refill and Bleed Cooling System
  • Refill the coolant reservoir with the appropriate type of coolant (BMW-approved).
  • Start the engine and let it reach operating temperature with the radiator cap off.
  • Monitor coolant level and add more if necessary while bleeding air from the system.
