Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to ensure safety.
  • Tools required: Socket set, multimeter, OBD-II scanner, wire brush, replacement battery or alternator if necessary.
2. Clean Battery Terminals
  • Use a wire brush to clean any corrosion off the battery terminals and cable ends.
  • Reconnect the battery terminals and ensure they are tight.
3. Replace Battery (if necessary)
  • If the battery voltage is below specifications, remove the old battery by:
    1. Disconnecting the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal.
    2. Removing any brackets holding the battery in place.
    3. Lifting the battery out of the tray.
  • Install the new battery:
    1. Place the new battery in the tray.
    2. Attach the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
    3. Secure the battery with the brackets.
4. Replace Alternator (if necessary)
  • If the alternator is not charging the battery:
    1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
    2. Remove the drive belt from the alternator by loosening the tensioner.
    3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator.
    4. Unbolt the alternator from the engine and remove it.
    5. Install the new alternator:
      • Position the new alternator and bolt it in place.
      • Reconnect the electrical connectors.
      • Reinstall the drive belt, ensuring proper alignment.
    6. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
