Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts: OBD-II scanner, socket set, oil pressure gauge, new engine oil, new oil filter, oil catch pan.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool.
2. Oil Level Check and Adjustment
  1. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
  2. Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the oil level.
  3. If low, add the appropriate type and grade of engine oil as specified in the owner’s manual.
3. Inspect and Replace Oil Filter (if necessary)
  1. Place an oil catch pan under the oil filter.
  2. Use a socket or wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  3. Lubricate the rubber gasket of the new oil filter with a bit of new oil.
  4. Install the new oil filter by hand-tightening it and then tightening it further with a wrench as per specifications (usually 3/4 turn after hand-tight).
4. Check Oil Pressure with Gauge
  1. Locate the oil pressure sending unit on the engine.
  2. Remove the electrical connector and unscrew the sending unit using a socket.
  3. Install the oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit.
  4. Start the engine and observe the gauge; it should read within the manufacturer's specifications (generally 20-60 psi at idle).
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. If oil pressure is low, check for potential internal engine issues (e.g., worn bearings).
  2. If pressure is normal, reconnect the oil pressure sending unit and electrical connector.
  3. Start the engine and check for leaks and ensure the warning light is off.
