Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, torque wrench, brake cleaner, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Allow the brakes to cool if the vehicle has been recently driven.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts using a lug wrench.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Components

a. Inspect Brake Calipers

  • Check the caliper for signs of sticking or uneven movement.
  • If the caliper is faulty, remove the caliper bolts and replace the caliper.

b. Inspect Brake Pads

  • Measure the thickness of all brake pads.
  • Replace any pads that are unevenly worn. Remove the caliper and slide the pads out.
  • Parts Required: Replacement brake pads.

c. Inspect Brake Rotors

  • Check the rotor for any warping or deep scoring. Use a dial indicator if necessary.
  • If warped, replace the rotors. Remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws and sliding it off the hub.
  • Parts Required: Replacement brake rotors if needed.
4. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the new brake pads and rotor (if replaced).
  • Reattach the brake caliper and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
5. Final Checks
  • Pump the brake pedal to ensure proper caliper function and pad engagement.
  • Check fluid levels and top off if necessary.
