Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: flathead screwdriver, new key fob battery (CR2450), multimeter.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a secure location.
  • Remove any jewelry or items that may interfere with the work.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Use the flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob.
  2. Remove the old battery and check it with a multimeter for voltage. It should read around 3 volts.
  3. Insert the new battery (CR2450) ensuring the positive (+) side is facing the correct direction.
  4. Snap the key fob back together securely.
3. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Sit in the driver's seat and close all doors.
  2. Insert the key fob into the ignition slot (if equipped) or hold the key fob against the start/stop button.
  3. Press the start button without pressing the brake pedal to enter accessory mode.
  4. Press and hold the unlock button on the key fob for about 10 seconds.
  5. Release the button and check if the vehicle responds to the key fob.
4. Inspect Vehicle Keyless Entry System
  1. If the key fob replacement did not work, inspect the vehicle’s keyless entry system by checking wiring and connectors.
  2. Look for any blown fuses related to the central locking system in the fuse box.
  3. Replace any blown fuses and retest the key fob.
